Our History

Zwanger–Pesiri Founders, Doctors Jerome Zwanger and E.J. Pesiri

Dr. Jerome Zwanger (left) and Dr. E.J. Pesiri (right). Founded in 1953, Zwanger-Pesir's commitment is still going stong, bringing advanced care to Long Island for generations.   

In 1953, Dr. Jerome Zwanger began his radiology practice out of his home, which would later become the Massapequa office. His main focus was to provide modern diagnostics in a caring and compassionate environment. He began a partnership with Dr. E.J. Pesiri in 1958, which continued until July of 2001, when Dr. Pesiri retired.

In the coming decades, Doctors Jerome Zwanger and E.J. Pesiri saw the need on Long Island for sophisticated medical imaging in an outpatient setting. Throughout the 70s, 80s, and 90s, Zwanger-Pesiri expanded into Plainview, Lindenhurst, and West Islip.

Now for over 70 years, Zwanger-Pesiri has been establishing the gold standard in radiology with an unmatched level of patient-centered care, research, education, and commitment to the community. Currently operating out of 25 offices throughout Long Island, ZP has surpassed every hospital, health system, multi-specialty practice, and outpatient facility in virtually every facet of radiology.
